Women arrested for hiding drugs in private parts

On March 15, two Illinois women were arrested after allegedly hiding crack cocaine and a crack pipe in their respective body orifices. Police discovered the items during a traffic stop.

According to authorities, Shorewood police were called to a local Econo Lodge at approximately 3 a.m. by people who had been sharing a motel room with a 26-year-old woman. The individuals said they had kicked the woman out of the room and she trespassed and damaged property as she gathered her things. She was attempting to leave the scene in a van when officers arrived. They performed a traffic stop and called for backup from the Joliet police, who brought a drug dog to the scene.

A body cavity search of the woman turned up 45 rocks of crack cocaine. A cavity search of a second female van passenger, age 24, turned up a crack pipe. A third passenger allegedly lied to officers about her real name, and they discovered she had an arrest warrant out of Homewood. All three women were taken into custody. The 26-year-old was placed in Will County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The driver of the van, a 33-year-old man, was not charged in the incident.

Individuals facing drug charges may find it advisable to have the assistance of a criminal defense attorney in combating them. In some cases, legal counsel could challenge the constitutionality of the search that led to the seizure of the drugs. If successful, the evidence could be ruled inadmissible, which could lead to the dismissal of the case.
