GOVERNOR QUINN FACING LAWSUIT AGAIN IN OCTOBER

In addition to his Republican challenger in this November’s election, Illinois governor Pat Quinn is facing a more immediate contest. An anti-patronage lawyer filed a lawsuit in July 2014 requesting an investigation into the hiring process in the state’s Department of Transportation. The legal professional wants to make sure that the ban on political hiring for private-sector jobs has not been violated.

In defending Governor Quinn, his attorneys petitioned the judge to throw out the request for an investigation since it would inhibit Illinois state officials from discharging one of their duties in hiring employees. The Magistrate Judge Sidney Schenkier allowed attorneys to file motions and has set a return court date for October 22.
