Medical marijuana was not legalized in the state of Illinois until 2013 and the laws continue to move forward. Lawmakers met in Chicago today and approved rules for the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program, which means that would-be growers and dispensers can soon apply for permits. Medical patients are expected to be able to use medical cannabis in Illinoi sometime next year.

POLICE NEED A JUDGE’S APPROVAL BEFORE SEARCHING CELLPHONES

The U.S. Supreme Court showed surprising unanimity in its ruling that police must obtain the approval of a judge before searching the cellphones of individuals they have arrested. The 9-0 decision was made in protection of everyone's constitutional right to privacy.
