2 charged with aggravated robbery

On Feb. 21, it was announced that an Illinois man and woman were charged with armed robbery after they were accused of robbing a woman in a parking lot. Authorities stated that they were looking to obtain money so that they could buy drugs.

The incident occurred at about 4:35 p.m. in late January when authorities responded to the report of an armed robbery in the parking lot of a an Aurora strip mall. The 46-year-old woman stated that she was approached by a man who then asked for money. When she refused, she stated that he pulled what looked like a gun out. As she was running away, she said that she heard pops, which turned out to be the windows on her vehicle being broken. The man reportedly stole her purse before leaving in a vehicle that was being driven by a woman.

After an investigation, the authorities identified the two individuals as a 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. They were eventually both taken into police custody and were charged with aggravated robbery. Both individuals were also charged with offenses associated with unlawful use of a credit card.

Felonies can result in serious consequences if a person is convicted. As such, it is important that a person who was accused of wrongdoing following an investigation work with a criminal law attorney. If the person was identified by the alleged victim or through security footage, the attorney may argue that the accused person was misidentified and had no involvement in the crime. The attorney may present an alibi that proves that the person could not have been involved.
