Operation Victory nabs drug dealers in Illinois

Authorities in Illinois say that they took four people into custody who they say were involved in the distribution of drugs such as cannabis, Xanax and ecstasy. They were taken into custody after a five-month joint campaign conducted by Joliet police in conjunction with groups such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Three of the individuals were taken into custody for criminal conspiracy as well as delivering a controlled substance. They included a 35-year-old man who was being held on $6 million bail and who was apprehended by ATF agents and allegedly had money and Xanax in his possession. A 36-year-old man being held on $3 million bail was also taken into custody by ATF agents and allegedly had cash and heroin in his possession.

A 33-year-old man being held on $3 million bail was taken into custody by Joliet Police after being released from Will County Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges. After taking the men in custody, several homes were searched where cash, various drugs such as cannabis and heroin and a 2015 Chevy Camaro were found. As part of the investigation, police conducted a sting operation that targeted 12 buyers, led to 10 cars being towed and also led to the seizure of cash.

A conviction on drug possession or distribution charges may lead to a variety of penalties including lengthy incarceration and steep fines. Those who have been handed such charges may want to immediately begin developing a strategy to combat them with the assistance of a criminal defense attorney. One such method is to challenge the constitutionality of the search that led to the seizure of the drugs in question.
