Memorial Day DUI Statistics

On May 23, 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a notice titled " Memorial Day Advisory: NHTSA Releases Summer Driving Tips for Safe Travel During the Holiday Weekend and Summer Months. In this advisory, the NHTSA stated that "In 2012, there were 377 crash related fatalities during the Memorial Day period."

According to CyberDriveIllinois.com, Memorial Day weekend three years ago had the third-highest rate of alcohol-related traffic fatalities behind the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving.
